Mission
The Raider is the official yearbook publication of Gulliver Preparatory School's Upper School campus in Miami, Florida. The yearbook's theme is conceptualized and designed by the student staff, who is also responsible for managing all coverage and ad sales. The mission of the Raider yearbook staff is to provide a historical record of the school year that reflects the diverse voices, experiences, and perspectives of the school community. Through its production, students will learn principles of journalism, time and business management, photography, and design.
Accolades
The Raider is regarded as one of the top student-run publications in the U.S. It has won numerous awards from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), including a Yearbook Pacemaker Award in 2023, and a Pacemaker Finalist in 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025. In 2022 and 2025, the Raider earned a Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), and Silver Crown Awards in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. The Raider also earned a Sunshine Standout Award from the Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA) in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026. The Raider is a national sample, and part of Walsworth Publishing's Presidential Collection. It has been featured in Walsworth's Possibilities idea book, as well as NSPA's Best of the High School Press publication.
Editorial Policy
The staff is committed to accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism. All content decisions are made by the student editorial staff in collaboration with the yearbook adviser. Students determine coverage priorities, themes, and story selections. The publication operates as a designated public forum for student expression. The yearbook staff exercises full editorial control over the publication. The adviser provides guidance on journalistic standards, ethics and production.
All designs, layouts, and visual elements are created by members of the yearbook staff. Students are responsible for producing a cohesive and original publication that reflects their creative vision.
Photography and Media Use
All photographs used in the yearbook are either taken by yearbook staff photographers, or are responsibly sourced by staff with proper permission and attribution when required.The staff ensures that all images are appropriate, relevant, and uphold journalistic integrity.
Accuracy and Ethics
The staff strives for accuracy, fairness, and completeness in all reporting. Students verify information through credible sources and correct errors promptly when identified. The yearbook avoids libel, invasion of privacy, and inappropriate content.
